Dear Pancharatna Prabhu
Please accept my humble obeisances
All glories to Srila Prabhupada

Thanks for your very thoughtful response. I value your response and so it important to address some of the key points that your grace is bringing up which if pursued i am confident of arriving at suitable solution to this long standing problem.

I see this as a classic straw man argument. No one on the pro-VDG side is against shastra as the center of guru-sadhu-shastra.

If pro-VDG side is not against keeping Sastra as the center then they must show a shastric and sadhu statements to support their side of arguments in addition to presenting partial guru statements. So far the supporting camp shows  guru vakyas (that too only some of Srila Prabhupada's letters and interpret the SB 4.12.32 purport as not a principle) as the center of their guru-guru-guru instead of guru-sadhu-shastra, just like the ritvik camp does.

On the contrary those who oppose the FDG implementation have provided a shastra vakya in Bharadvaja-samhita statements (1.42-44), a sadhu-vakya in Srila Baladeva Vidyābhūṣaṇa's commentary to SB 1.13.15, wherein he says only exceptional devotees like Vidura may become gurus albeit a sudra and junior, qutoing the same Bharadvaja-samhita 1.42-44 verses as the basis, and Srila Prabhupada's SB 4.12.32 purport and conversation with O'Connell as the guru-vakyas against the implementation of the FDG institution in general.

How can the above evidence from all three faculties (guru-sadhu-sastra) that forbid  woman in general becoming a diksha-guru be a straw-man argument whereas the opposing side that considers guru-guru-guru statements as only evidence supporting FDG be not a straw-man argument?  Instead the evidence provided from guru-sadhu-sastra directly address the question whether woman can become a diksha-guru in general.

In fact it is Sri CHaitanya Mahaprabhu's own statement in Chaitanya Caritamrita, Madhya 8.128, that is the prime basis of the argument in favor of recognizing the qualification to be guru in someone regardless of their birth , varna or social status.
In the verse CC 2.8.128 there is only a indication of guruship regardless of birth, varna or social but not linga-beda or regardless of gender. Even in this verse 2.8.128 vipra, nyasi, shudra are mentioned and they all refer to only male gender and not female gender. Saying that vipra, nyasi, and shudra also refer to both man and woman would become a nirvishesha vada.

So shastras including CC 2.8.128 does not include a clause of linga or no gender bar by clearly mentioning vipra, nyasi, and shudra all of which means varna dharma for male whereas women follow stri dharma. Nyasi means sannyasi and women are forbidden to take sannyasa (SB 3.24.40 purport).

Furthermore on this CC 2.8.128 verse,  Lord Caitanya states that a wide range of classes of men are eligible to become guru as an exception, only if they know Krsna-tattva, which necessarily includes knowing that and abiding by shastras that forbid woman and shudras or lower among men from becoming diksha-gurus in general.

But your point is most important. When there is a diversity of views how far can we remain united? There is a saying coined by a CHristian theologian during the 30 years war in Europe, which began as a Protestant vs Catholic fight:
"In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, in all things charity".

Thanks for your acknowledgement. I would give another example. One may also use mayavada principle and start including Saibaba worship twisting the statements of shastras that such worship can also eventually lead to Krishna worship and certainly such an adjustment if made in ISKCON would also greatly promote unity in diversity. Nonetheless, even a rookie devotee studying Srila Prabhupada's books and teachings, especially the SB 4.12.32 purport, know that just accepting anything and everything just to preserve unity is actually unity in perversity.

Are our disagreements over shastric interpretation and Srila Prabhupada's intentions based on essential or non-essential principles?

In order to accept FDG as a non-essential principle we have to somehow show that the statements of Bharadvaja-samhita, statements of Srila Baladeva Vidyābhūṣaṇa,  and statements of Srila Prabhupada's purport to SB 4.12.32 as non-essential principles.

This is exactly what the supporters of FDG have attempted. They state Bharadvaja-samhita is a scripture that Srila Prabhupada never referred or even if he did as in SB 4.31.10 purport, it was a remote reference. They (pro-fdg) never discuss Baladeva Vidyābhūṣaṇa commentary to SB 1.13.15 or attempt to reinterpret in their own ways. As far as Suniti statement in SB 4.12.32 purport is concerned, they juggle the words in that purport and through intellectual gymnastics try to prove (in vain) that the purport on Suniti is some narration of history and not a principle. But SB 4.12.32 says:
"According to śāstric injunctions, there is no difference between śikṣā-guru and dīkṣā-guru, and generally the śikṣā-guru later on becomes the dīkṣā-guru. Sunīti, however, being a woman, and specifically his mother, could not become Dhruva Mahārāja’s dīkṣā-guru."

The above purport states "According to śāstric injunctions" which means that the claim that it is only applicable to Suniti is also supposed to show which shastric injunction forbids Suniti (either as her individual case or as women in general) from becoming a diksha guru.

In the case of posthumous rtvik initiations, I believe we all agree that the principle of initiation from a living guru is essential. But are gender criteria views similarly essential?

Until we establish based on mimasaka principles that the above three statements presented from Bharadvaja-samhita,  Srila BVB commentary, SB 4.12.32 purport, are not essential principles they all remain essential principles.

Without proper Vedic hermeneutics and just stating that gender criteria for guruship is non-essential principle and only accepting certain letters and conversations of Srila Prabhupada on FDG topic as the main principle would only amount to us doing  the same mistake of ritvik camp that considers the July 9th letter alone as the support for their case.

Can we agree to disagree and remain united in our primary mission ?

We can agree to disagree and remain united on certain topics such as whether or not to continue calling Krsna prasadam as "food" or not. But Srila Prabhupada wanted ISKCON to implement Varnasrama dharma. ISKCON has barely even started to implement that mandate of Srila Prabhupada. A good number of devotees feel that ISKCON has not only not given prominence to VAD but they feel that Srila Prabhupada's VAD mandate for ISKCON is almost in the coffins and implementation of FDG would be the last nail that seals this VAD implementation within ISKCON permanently dead.

This would not mean stopping arguing and debating as we have been doing in any case around many issues.

This is also suggested by pro-FDG camp that let us give it a try and see what happens and if thing go wrong we can revert back anytime.

But, according sastric injunctions one cannot revert back known violations of shastric principles without serious repercussions or atonements. Why do we want to take this risk and put devotees under such great risk of committing sins and then they can do prayascittam?

GBC resolutions and policies are never cast in stone and can be reversed or amended..

Whatever decision is made by our GBC, I hope that we can find a way to maintain unity and diversity as desired by Srila Prabhupada.

If we allow FDG, then as Sivarama Swami Maharaja and others say in their recent talks why not allow children initiated in their pre-teens also become diksha-gurus or allow LGBT inclined "devotees" to have their own LGBT inclined gurus etc..all in the name of maintaining unity and diversity as desired by Srila Prabhupada.

I am greatly confused now. 26 years before i came to ISKCON for getting Spiritual enlightenment because i saw and read in Srila Prabhupada's teachings to keep  Sastras in the highest pedastal. There will be many like me who are going to come in future to ISKCON with the same expectation.

Deviations such as ritvik, FDG are certainly denting my hopes and many such devotees...

Srila Prabhupada repeatedly stated to keep sastra as the center of all and not
go woth majority opinion or vox populi.

It is very painful to see that Srila Prabhupada's movement is increasingly
becoming vox populi movement because we see devotees who have given upvthe hope
of keeping sastras as the center.

If the call is to keep iskcon united with VDG then why would we also not keep
ISKCON united with promotion of Sai Baba worship because Sai Baba worship or
Bogus Nityansbda worship endorsement can increase ISKCON followership greatly
all over the world including western members.

I did not mean to be sarcastic but i want us all to remember that only with
sastra asvthe center of all (CC 2.20.352 purport) as basis we in ISKCON have
kept such bogus mis-philosophy away for such a long time.

If we can be united with FDG then not we be united with Ritvik mis-philosophy?
